Marco's girlfriend Lydia is a bullfighter by profession, who is sent into a coma when one fight goes wrong and she is gored by the bull. Whilst in the clinic, Marco gets to know one of the nurses, Benigno, who helps to counsel him. Benigno only has one patient, Alicia, a student ballet-dancer also in a coma. He shows admirable patience as he cares for her, and this attentiveness helps to strengthen his bond with Marco. However, the bond between all these lives reveals some very dark secrets.
