Set in the early 1970s, The Hoax stars Richard Gere as Clifford Irving, a man whose career is going nowhere until he decides to write a bogus biography of the infamous billionaire aviator and recluse Howard Hughes. In doing so, he sparks a media frenzy that threatens to spiral out of control.
