After the death of 243-year-old toy shop owner Mr Magorium, he bequeaths his store to his mousy apprentice Molly Mahoney. Overwhelmed by taking on such responsibility, she initally struggles in her new role, but with the help of a nine-year-old child and Mr Magorium's uptight accountant Henry, the trio manage to save the shop and keep the magic alive.
