A spoof of dance movies in which suburban girl Megan gets into a series of misadventures when she moves to the inner-city after her mother's death. Megan dreams of going to Juilliard and enrolls in Musical High, although she hasn't danced since her mother's accident. At the school she meets Charity, a young mother who has her own issues dealing with her dimwitted "baby daddy", and Thomas, a passionate street dancer who is stuck working for a hungry obese gang lord. As Megan and Thomas spend more time together, they become dance partners, begin to fall in love, and try to face their fears in order to realise their impossible dreams.
