Focusing on a single day in the life of a mother living in Manhattan, the films follows Eliza as she prepares for her daughter's sixth birthday party. She hasn't got any idea of the challenges she's about to face in order to pull off the event. We see how Eliza haplessly deals with the whole organisation issue, meeting the sky-high demands of her daughter while at the same time entering a competition to write about what motherhood means to her; her whole experience eventually allows her to discover what she truly values in life.
