Randy "The Ram" Robinson (Mickey Rourke) was once one of the most successful wrestlers on the circuit. Now, aged and injured, he's struggling to make ends meet by fighting in small-time shows for tiny crowds. That is until he's offered the chance of a comeback fight with his old rival, The Ayatollah. A serious heart attack, however, puts the revitilisation of his career in question and pushes him to try to repair his relationship with his estranged daughter (Evan Rachel Wood)and find companionship with an ageing stripper (Marisa Tomei).
