One day Paul Giamatti stumbles on a solution to his paranoid anxiety when he sees an article in the New Yorker about a high-tech company promising to alleviate suffering by deep-freezing souls. Giamatti goes through with the operation only with the intention of immediately reinstating his soul once the its over. Complications arise when a mysterious, soul-trafficking mule hands Giamatti's stored soul over to an ambitious but talentless, Russian soap-opera actress. With no other options he is left to follow the trail back to St. Petersburg.
