Belgian cinema is famous in other countries thanks to the Dardenne brothers, two-time winners of the Golden Palm at Cannes, Jaco Van Dormael, Benoît Poelvoorde and Olivier Gourmet. They are all Walloons. However Flemish cinema is in good shape these days: Ben X and De Helaasheid der Dingen have received widespread acclaims. De Loft is the first national blockbuster. Dirty Mind, a shocking, but funny and poignant film from the prolific Pieter Van Hees, is another striking example of this vitality.
