A brilliant seventeen year-old girl growing up in the London suburbs in the early sixties, just before they started swinging, is being pushed by her middle-class parents to exceed at school and get into Oxford when her world is turned upsidedown by a charming, sportscar driving older man who seduces her with sophisticated clubs, chic suppers and dream trips to Paris. Her and her parents' dreams go out the window as she tries to balance the mostly contradicatory chores of being an ambitious school-girl with falling in love.
