A bourgeois housewife decides to go back to work as a physiotherapist. Her doctor husband agrees to build her consulting room in an annex of their house, but their carefully balanced middle-class life starts to wobble when she develops a dangerous, passionate, almost insatiable attraction to a Spanish labourer - an ex-con - who's in charge of the work on the house.
