Ali comes from a poor family and a small town, but she has a wonderful voice. She goes to LA in attempt to make the American Dream a reality, and stumbles upon The Burlesque Lounge, a struggling club that has seen better days. There, she gets given a job as a cocktail waitress by Tess, the club's owner and main performer. Ali is soon cast under the spell of Burlesque with all it's extravagant costumes and choreography, and vows that she will be up on stage one day. She forms a friendship with a dancer and finds a nemesis in another, as well as forging a relationship with the bartender Jack. Thanks to the help of the stage-manager and host, Ali manages to make her way onto the stage, and thanks to her incredible voice allows the The Burlesque Lounge to relive past glories once again. However, this leads a certain entrepreneur to come up with an interesting proposal for the fledgling star...
