Roger Greenberg, middle-aged and single, is at a crossroads in his life as he moves to LA to house-sit for his more successful brother. In a bid to restart his life, Greenberg tries to reconnect with old friends but old friends aren't necessarily still best friends and Greenberg soon finds himself spending more and more time with his brother's personal assistant, Florence, an aspiring singer and also something of a lost soul. He seems to have found a reason to be happy but things can never be so simple for a confused person like Greenberg.
