Roger East, a once-celebrated foreign correspondent left jaded by his experiences of covering international trouble spots is visited by East Timor's secretary of foreign affairs José Ramos-Horta and a young man. The young man eventually persuades East to cover the story of his missing compatriots in the hope that East's reporting will create enough international outrage to provoke international intervention. The film is based on a true story.
