Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (Never Say Goodbye) is a story about a group of individuals at different stages of their lives. Dev is a sensitive, sentimental and cynical man whose promising career as a professional footballer comes to an abrupt end after an injury. He loves his wife Rhea (Preity Zinta), but deep down, he also resents her unflinching dedication to her career and lack of commitment to her family. Rhea is a confident, ambitious, girl. Valueing her freedom she believes living life her way but in the process she often relegates her responsibilities as a wife and as a mother to the sidelines.Rishi, is a suave young P.R. consultant with a great personality. He is in love with his wife Maya who works as a nursery teacher. She is a woman coming to terms with her own inner conflicts – she cannot have children. This wound festers in her mind and affects her relationship with her husband, Rishi. But deep within her, are feelings which she doubts Rishi will ever understand.Samarjit Singh (Amitabh Bachchan) is Rishi’s father. For him the happiness of his children, Rishi and Maya, means the most. Beneath his fun-loving personality, Samarjit is a wise man noticing everything silently and gives out advice when needed.
