When a Christian missionary loses her entire family she rebukes her faith and becomes a world famous expert in disproving religious phenomena. However, a trip to a small town in Louisiana to find the reason for a series of 'biblical plagues' leaves her baffled. With no explanation for the trauma, she must turn back to her faith in order to cripple the forces that are threatening the small community.
