When his daughter Meggie is just a baby, Mo discovers that he has the power to bring characters in books to life when he reads aloud. When Meggie reaches the age of twelve, Capricorn - an evil character summoned into existence by Mo - uses his beloved daughter to try and lure Mo out of hiding so as to use him for his own nefarious ends.
