A Hamburg native of Turkish origins, Fatih Akin is one of the most prominent German directors: Gegen die Wand was awarded the Golden Bear in Berlin in 2004; Auf der anderen Seite won the prize for Best Screenplay at Cannes in 2007, and the César for Best Foreign Film. His latest bitter-sweet comedy concerns the misadventures of Zinos who is torn between his restaurant, his unfaithful mistress, agonising back pain and his uncontrollable brother.
