John is a middle-aged divorcee who's life is slowly going the way of his hairline. His ex-wife is happy and remarrying, whilst he is, in his own words, desperate. He is dragged to a party by the said ex-wife, who has remained his best friend, and his evening moves from one disaster to another as he tries his luck - under the influence of a good deal of alcohol - with a variety of women. His luck begins to change, however, when he is chatted up by Molly, a pretty single mum who takes a liking to John. Their relationship blossoms... until he meets her son, Cyrus, a doting son, who does not take kindly to John's beeline for his mum's heart. He turns out to be a nightmare for John, and a feud between the two ensues, but who will win favour with Molly? Can Cyrus ever accept a new man in his mum's life?
